Hue Working On New Series!

Hue is currently working on a new series of large vessels, each incised and painted with colorants prior to the bisque firing. These mark a real change in his creative focus, as they are a combination of his geometric and abstract two-dimensional painting style and his 3-D pottery pieces. Watch for posts of photos of the completed pots!

August Classes Underway!

We’re going into our fourth week of classes with a number of both new and returning students.AshleyWallPocket Fun and creative artwork is being made, especially by the children! We’ve introduced a Handcrafted Books class for ages 7 and older, as well as Handbuilding in Clay and Clay Critters. Both these classes let the kids play in the clay as they make gifts for family and friends and keepsakes for themselves.

Summer Arts & Clay Camps Were Fun!

Thanks to everyone whose children came and created at Creava Arts during our very first Summer Arts & Clay Camp season. We all had a blast making art and making new friends!

Kids in Week 1 made life-size paper mache dogs and cats, then painted them in quite creative ways! The Week 2 campers made all kinds of clay garden art, including some very fanciful frogs! The highlight of Week 3 was painting minions on rocks, and then we made all kinds of creative clay pieces in Week 4, like monster pots and hand soap dishes. Week 5’s campers made Impressionist art with acrylic paints, including self portraits in the style of Vincent van Gogh.

Summer Camps Are Underway

Summer Arts & Clay Camps have been so fun and busy! Campers made full size paper mache cats, weiner dogs and rabbits the first week in Extreme Paper Mache Camp, then all kinds of fun pottery pieces in Clay Garden Art the second week. Here are some photos of the kids!

Little Impressionists!

Yesterday’s Impressionist class resulted in paintings of a still life with apples in the style of Paul Cezanne. We learned why Cezanne painted apples, and how he showed perspective and used bold colors. We are having a blast!

Mary Cassatt Class Today

Today, three young artists learned about the life and art of the American Impressionist, Mary Cassatt in our class “The Impressionists.” We did a study of her painting, “Two Children At The Seashore,” painted in 1884. Everyone did very well with their proportions and compositions, and learned how to layer soft pastels to make new colors, just like Mary did!

Valentine’s Day Date Nights

We had a great first Valentine’s Day Date Event last Saturday! We sold out all the spots, and nine couples joined us to learn how to throw pots on the wheel while having lots of laughs. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed cheesecake, chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling cider. We had a blast, and started a new tradition here at Creava Arts! Thanks to all who came and made it such a nice event!
